Carlos represents clients before federal and state tax agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department (EDD), and California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA). He also advises on multistate tax issues in jurisdictions such as Illinois, Washington, New York, and Utah, ensuring clients remain compliant across state lines while optimizing for long-term outcomes.
Carlos has achieved strong results for both business and individual clients, including multiple no-change outcomes in EDD audits and millions of dollars in projected savings through corporate restructuring and tax planning strategies.
He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law and passed the California Bar in 2021. During law school, he published legal research in the California Western International Law Journal and completed internships with the U.S. District Court and New Media Rights, where he gained practical experience in federal casework, legal drafting, and intellectual property agreements. Carlos also holds a B.A. in Political Science with a public law concentration from UC San Diego, where he was the first in his family to graduate from college.
Outside of work, Carlos enjoys studying new languages and exploring other cultures. Before traveling to Japan, he completed a Japanese language course to enhance the experience. He shares life with Moe, his 110-pound Mastiff-Pitbull mix, and in his free time enjoys horror films, staying up to date on tech trends, and reading thrillers by Stephen King and Dan Brown.
