Jialin L. Dykstra, Esq. is an Associate Attorney at Brotman Law, where she focuses on tax optimization, strategic planning, and resolving federal and state tax controversies. Jialin brings a well-rounded background in both private-sector tax strategy and individual taxpayer representation, offering clients experience across proactive planning and tax controversy matters.
Before joining Brotman Law, Jialin worked as a senior tax associate at KPMG, advising multinational corporations across industries on maximizing tax efficiency through credits, accounting methods, and structural incentives. Her rotation on the firm’s M&A tax team also deepened her experience in high-stakes transactional work. She later transitioned to a boutique tax law firm, where she represented individual and business clients in matters involving IRS and FTB audits, collections, and appeals. Her work also included entity formation, estate planning, and corporate revivor efforts.
Jialin has successfully advocated for clients before the IRS, FTB, and CDTFA, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Her ability to navigate both proactive tax planning and aggressive defense work makes her a strong asset to clients with complex or evolving tax needs.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Chapman University Fowler School of Law, with a Certificate in Tax Law Emphasis, and holds a B.A. in Public Relations, magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California. She passed the California Bar in 2021.
Raised in China and fluent in Mandarin Chinese—with additional fluency in French—Jialin has traveled to over 30 countries, including several remote destinations. Her international background and language skills support her ability to communicate across cultures and connect with clients from a wide range of industries and regions. When she's not working, Jialin enjoys golf, fashion, learning new languages, and exploring new restaurants and events around the city.
